Central Library

Govt. Kamla Raja Girls Post Graduate Autonomous College was established in 1937 in Kampoo Kothi at Gwalior. At the time of its establishment, it was indeed a fact that a Central Library also set up to cater the needs of teachers and students for learning resources. After formation of Post Graduate departments, setting up of Research Centers and inception of Self Financing Courses in KRGC, separate departmental libraries introduced in various departments

Over the years, the Central Library has developed into a rich academic and research oriented Library providing a wide range of services to teachers, students, scholars and other interested users. It presently has in its custody over 1.32 lakh books comprising Text Books, Reference Books, Research Books, Rare books, Reports, Monographs, Gazetteers, Travelogues, Native Newspapers, Journals etc. which constitute a most valuable source of information. These books cover a variety of subjects English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu, Fine Arts, Music Vocal, Music Instrument, Dance Functional Hindi, Marathi, Philosophy, Political Science, Sociology, Economics, History, Geography, Psychology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Electronics, Industrial Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Food and Nutrition, Human Development, Family Resource Management, Commerce, Computer Science, Coputer Application, Law, Management, Gender studies, Tribal studies etc. With the rapid strides being made in information technology, the Library is gearing itself to adopt modern technology to facilitate the task of scholars and make its services more users friendly

STRATEGIC GOAL & OBJECTIVES :

  • To develop and enhance the capability of the library resources and services in meet the demands of the curricular, instructional, and research programs of the academic community and users
  • To get regular funding to yearly acquisition of library materials
  • To collect the significant title/publications on all subjects taught in the institution
  • To create various bibliographies and library pathfinders for easy access and retrieval of information.
  • To preserve the research and rare books for research purpose
  • To strengthen the library's bond to the library patrons by establishing FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY program which would assist in the development of the library collection
  • To disseminate information and knowledge to its users
  • To provide services that enhances the quest for knowledge and intellectual activity.

USERS OF LIBRARY & REGISTRATION:

The students and scholars of the KRGC are the members of the Central Library and they can be registered for getting library services. The faculty members of the KRGC are deemed members of the Central Library. Bonafide Research Scholars from other institutions and individuals engaged in research work can also have services of the Central Library with prior permission of the Principal.

WORKING HOURS & SCHEDULE :

  1. The Central Library is open on all weekdays from 10.30 A.M. to 5.30 P.M.
  2. Registration of the students and scholars are made from 11.00 A.M. to 01.00 P.M.
  3. Books can be returned to the Counter Staff by 5.00 P.M.
  4. e-Library can be accessed by UG students from 11.00 P.M. to 01.00 P.M. and PG students from 02.00 P.M. to 4.00 P.M.

HOLIDAYS :

The Central Library remains closed on Sundays, Government and Local holidays.

READING ROOM :

The Central Library has a huge 40x40 sqft. wide General Reading Hall with the capacity of 60 students at a time. It is run according to schedule for the students of various classes and streams. All material available in the Central Library is available for consultation only in the Reading Room of the Library. Readers should not allow to talk or discuss as they may disturb other readers. Reading halls are meant for individual study and research only.

USER’S ATTENDANCE :

All users are requested to sign the Attendance Register on their arrival. The registers are separately maintained for faculty and students.

REQUISITION FOR BOOKS

Each student/scholar is normally permitted to requisition up to two books at a time in the Central Library.

REPROGRAPHIC FACILITIES :

The Central Library has a reprographic facility. Requests for Xerox (plain paper copies)/photocopies may be made as per prescribed charges and rules upto 4.30 p.m. on all working days. Normally One rupee charged for one photocopy.

USER’S RESPONSIBILITY :

Damaged books and publications in a bad state of preservation are not normally issued. The borrowers will be personally responsible for the custody and safe return of the books borrowed by them. A book lost or damaged in any way by a borrower shall have to replace the same or meet the cost of the book. The evaluation of the cost will rest with the Librarian of the Central Library.

LOCKER/PROPERTY COUNTER :

Users/Readers should not leave bags/books/copies on the table. The Central Library has the facility of locker/property counter so users must keep their belongings at property counter and get property counter token. In case the property counter token is lost, the deposited article may be claimed with proper identification after producing a written request and will have to pay Rs.50/- as fine to the Central Library.

GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR USERS :

  • Users should produce their library card at the entrance.
  • Library card is non-transferable.
  • No student/scholar will have direct access to the book shelves.
  • Use of Mobile phones is strictly prohibited in the Library.
  • Personal books and belongings are not permitted in the Library Reading Room. These may kindly be kept in the lockers/property counter provided for the purpose.
  • Readers are advised not to leave their valuable items like money, passport, credit card etc. at the Property Counter.
  • Smoking, eating or taking tea is not permitted in the Library.
  • Marking, scratching, damaging, mutilating, stealing, library materials or property will invite disciplinary action against the defaulters.
  • The Librarian reserves the right to suspend the membership of any user found misbehaving with the library staff or with any other user.
  • Silence may please be maintained in the Library.

Users can ask questions by email from librarian. The librarian will reply within 24 hours, except on weekends and holidays. We are happy to find or recommend books, Journal articles that you will enjoy reading for your academic. Management can also answer questions about library account and other services.
